We offer TWO METHODS OF TRAINING

  1. Self-study in Colour Analysis using our DVD-based training package
  2. Face-to-face training in all aspects of image, colour and style; we offer two distinct forms of face-to-face training:
    1. Personalised face-to-face training in small groups - course schedule
    2. Business consultancy and training, bespoke training usually one-to-one

TRAINING WITH IMPROVABILITY

WHAT THIS IS NOT!

  • This is absolutely not a franchise
  • There are no pre-designed training courses - each training session will be designed around YOU and what YOU need
  • You will not become a clone of Improvability (or of me!) - you will be encouraged to develop your own identity as a professional in your chosen field
  • You are under no obligation to buy drapes, wallets, colour or style supplies, make-up, or anything else from the suppliers I recommend; you can source your own if you prefer
  • If you should decide to pursue some or all of my recommendations, you will never have to meet any monthly / yearly / whatever targets by selling unwanted wallets, make-up, scarves, etc. to your poor unsuspecting clients

Whyyou should consider carefully who you train with

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Back-up and support AFTER the training

There are, unfortunately, lots of training companies out there who will take your money, sell you lots of goodies, and wave goodbye. I am always available for support and back-up once the training itself has finished - and that goes for both the personal and DVD-based training courses. Many of those who have already trained with me send emails with details and photos of those people who are not so easy to analyse, or just to check that they are on the right track - and I just love to pore over these and offer my help.

"I'm doing well. I'm gradually doing more colours; it's taken me a while to juggle other priorities. Anyway, I did a joint consultation and was wondering if you could check over my suggestions. Thanks ever so much for being there - it's such a help!!!! This is so much harder than it looks sometimes!! :) I'm really enjoying it though so thank you so much for taking me on!" Claire, Bury St. Edmunds, UK

It's up to you whether you keep in touch or not - this is not a franchise; I will train you to set up your own business, run your way, to reflect your own personality but I am here if, and whenever, you need me.

"I just wanted to say that your reply to my last email regarding 'xxx' was spot on. I so 'get' what you say. You are an inspiration Kim. I strive to emulate what you do and how you do it as I admire your approach. Obviously I put my own style to it or else I'd never be able to carry it off honestly and truly but the way you look at things and comment is FIRST CLASS.
I just wanted to let you know this and say a BIG thank you for your back up support. It's very very very much appreciated. You're a star
." KA, Edinburgh, UK

Comprehensive manual

All our courses include a comprehensive course workbook which includes all the theory for your training needs.

"Straightforward chart-type explanations which you provided in my training materials are still what I use for my reference during my colour sessions; they are handy and quick to read." Julie, London, UK (and now Canada)

For some trainees I may follow the workbook closely and cover everything almost page by page if that is what I think is needed. For others, I may skip over sections of the workbook discuss additional subjects in detail, as required. Plus, I may even add additional customised content writing additional pages of notes after the training has been completed specifically for you. In short (as Mr. Micawber used to say), I offer personalised training, customised to your specific business needs.

HOW TO FIND OUT MORE

Before you ask - there is no prospectus as I do not have a set syllabus; each course is designed around the individual(s) on the course at that particular time.

So, until I know exactly what you want from the course, I will not quote for prices, course duration, etc. We need to talk on the phone (absolutely no obligation on either side), when I can give you my best advice.

"Thank you for your quick reply with all the information you've provided and it was great talking to you also yesterday, very helpful! I am really interested in doing your course and I agree, I think colour will work very well. I'm hoping to join your course in November, although I think it will be easier to get away and do once I am in the new salon and obviously I need to work out everything and prepare for the other ideas I wish to do. I realise so far that your courses get booked up very quickly so I hope to be in touch soon and book with you. I hope this is ok. Thank you again for your help so far." Clare, UK (Jul 06)

The next step

Read frequently-asked questions about training and then contact me with the information below:

  • Your name, location, and daytime telephone number
  • The best time to call you during the day
  • Experience, if any, in the industry
  • Related experience, if any
  • What sort of training you are looking for
  • What kind of business you are hoping to build from this

This puts neither of us under any obligation whatsoever.

Before any bookings or training take place, we need to talk on the telephone at the absolute minimum so we can both decide how (or if) we can best work together.

"Thanks for getting back to me with the information so quickly, it was great to talk to you earlier - it really clarified a few things for me. After speaking to you I've made the decision to work with women only - which has taken a weight off my mind that I didn't even realise was there - thank you! I would definitely love to go ahead and book a colour analysis course with you." Lisa, Hertfordshire, UK (May 06)

Training in the image industry could set you on the road to a satisfying, well-paid career. And if I can help you achieve your dreams, I would love to help you!

Why you should consider carefully who you train with

I re-trained in everything (Colour Analysis, Ladies' Style, Make-up, Men's Image, and Corporate Image) during the summer months of 1999 and was shocked and horrified to discover that a number of the self-styled Image Consultants on the course couldn't tell the difference between cool and warm skin tones - which is absolutely fundamental to the whole process.

They had previously trained with other companies - some of whom are very well-known and you may have already come across them on the internet or in the press - and I, therefore, concluded that not all training courses are equal and some clearly do not do the job at all.

What shocked me more than anything was the thought of these people practising their dubious skills on the unsuspecting public - and getting paid for it!

No wonder I get so many ladies coming up to me at the end of a talk wondering if they really are a Spring as previously told them by another 'consultant', when it seems perfectly obvious from my observations that they are most probably a Summer (just an example - I'm sure you get my drift here)!

And I am still amazed at the number of people who contact me to say that they've trained with another company who have sold them a box of drapes and they haven't a clue what to do with them! Or worse, they're stuck with a bedroom full of make-up, scarves, etc. plus the dreaded monthly targets that accompany these. If this is you, and you are unhappy with the service you've been given, then complain loudly and insist on having your money back!

You need to make sure that the training you are paying for meets all your needs - if you don't know what your needs are, can I suggest that you make a list?

To start you off:

  1. peruse our course content
  2. download my free book 'What does it take to become an image consultant? - answers to 17 questions you MUST ask before training.'

"It was great to have been able to talk to you earlier. Thanks ever so much for your time on the phone.

I have read the downloaded booklet ‘cover to cover’ and just know that this is what I need to be doing. I love helping people, am a good listener and I am very much looking forward to completely understanding colour. I have done so much research in the past and have never wanted to commit to a course due to the blinkered approach all the other courses seem to have. i.e learning only tonal or only seasonal, etc, and having to commit to their marketing plans.

I am going to start at the Business Link website, as you suggested, to see if they can help in any way with funding the training so that I set out with the right ‘business-minded’ approach right from the beginning.

I very much hope to be able to secure a booking with you by the end of this month, for the colour course in March. Thanks again for your time today - I really appreciate your advice." Denise, Northants, UK (Jan 08)

WHAT TRAINING WITH ME OFFERS YOU

I promise to train you in YOUR own particular choice of Colour, Style, etc. to be able to run your own business as an independent consultant. The course will be built around YOU, your personality, where you currently are, and what you want to achieve.

You will have fun, you will learn about your own colouring and body shape, and you'll learn how to do the same for your clients. The ultimate purpose of each course will be to show you how to work out what your client really wants from a consultation with you, and how to deliver just that!

There is no need to try to cram everything into a two-day course (you couldn't do that anyway; I am still learning about colour, style, image, etc. after 27 years in the business) as I offer you full back-up support when your training is over. However, as I don't run a franchise I will NOT chase you. This is your business and you must decide how you are going to run it. I am here if you need me.

FOR INDEPENDENT FREE THINKERS ONLY

I don't believe there can possibly be a formula when you're working with human beings. We are all different, and there isn't a scientist in the world who can prove that you and I see the same shade of red (or whatever), so quite how anyone thinks they can produce a completely fool-proof formula for what suits who is utterly beyond me.

My courses offer you several ways to work out what suits one client as opposed to another. How YOU learn will heavily influence which approach suits you best. We cover this, and lots more about psychology, body language, etc. on the course.

If you want to run your business YOUR way, with no-one breathing down your neck to see if you've met this month's targets, then consider training with Improvability. There will be no targets at all set by me - only the ones you set for yourself.

This is an absolutely fabulous business to be in. You can earn good money and yet have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping others to achieve their potential by making the most of themselves. What a wonderful way to put bread on the table!
