What's an e-Book?
An e-Book, or electronic book, is a digital book that you can read on a computer screen. Some e-Books can also be read on an electronic device such as a Palm or other handheld computer but at this time we do not offer any titles for handheld devices.

Are e-books available for download to all customers?
We sell e-books to customers in all countries but our e-Books are only available in English at this time.

How do I read an e-Book?
To read an e-Book, you must have an e-Book reader. A reader is the free software that must be installed on the computer or device to which you download your e-Book in order to read it. You can purchase an e-Book from us at any time, but you must have a reader installed on your computer before you can view an e-Book you have bought. You can download Adobe Reader for free at www.adobe.com.

Once you have placed your order, you will receive an email message containing a link to follow. This link will take you to a page where you can download the e-Book that you've purchased to your installed reader. (If you misplace the e-mail containing this link, don't worry, you can get to the download page by requesting a new email from us. To do that, just contact enquiries@kieldercomputers.co.uk with your order details.

How long will my e-Book download link be valid?
We guarantee that your download link will be valid for 24 hours from the time you purchase your e-Book. Of course, once you download your e-Book, it will automatically be saved to your Adobe Reader Library so that you can read your e-Book whenever you like. Once you receive your email with the download link in it, we recommend that you download your e-Book so that you can begin reading it immediately.

What if I lose my e-Book download link?
If you lose the email containing your e-Book download link, don't worry, you can get to the download page by requesting a new email from us. To do that, just email enquiries@kieldercomputers.co.uk with your order details.

Why do I have to activate or certify my e-Book reader?
The first time you download Adobe Reader, you will be asked to certify it. Activation and certification are similar to the activation process you might follow when you get a new credit card, it allows you to make transactions.

For Adobe Reader, once the installation of the software is complete, an icon should appear on your desktop. Double-click the icon to open Adobe Reader. You will be asked to certify the reader the first time you use it. Simply click the "Certify Now" button to certify Adobe Reader.

Which versions of Windows are compatible with Adobe Reader?
Adobe Reader can be installed on any version of Windows except for Windows 3.1x.

Which versions of Adobe Reader are compatible with our e-Books?
Adobe Reader v5.x and above are compatible with our e-Books. We strongly recommend Adobe Reader v6.x to ensure you have all the latest features available in your e-Book reader.

Can I read e-Books on my Macintosh?
Yes, Adobe Reader is compatible with Macintosh operating systems.

Can I copy or print an e-Book?
The usage of e-Books is controlled by Digital Rights Management (DRM for short). The publisher of the book Kielder Computers Ltd sets up a DRM configuration that dictates the number of downloads that can be performed, and whether or not the printing and forwarding of this material is allowed (irrespective of whether or not it is reference material). Some publishers are prepared to let their e-Books be printed or copied, others are not, Kielder Computers Ltd currently allows its e-Books to be copied and printed.

Is it safe to download e-Book readers and e-Books?
Yes. You will not download a computer virus or any other malicious file when you download e-Books from us or e-Book readers from Adobe.com. Additionally, Adobe Reader has built-in security and encryption features to protect against copyright violations.

Can I return an e-Book?
You can return an e-Book within 14 days of purchase. All our products include a 14 day 100% customer guarantee.

Why should I read e-Books?
You can read them immediately, without having to wait for the title to be dispatched to you and you can take them with you anywhere you take your laptop. Adobe Reader offers useful features such as highlighting and searching.
