I never did get round to sending you those pictures of me in my shirts and ties! I don't know whether I am a 'natural 'or a 'creative' but I much prefer the look, style, and everything of men's clothes to women's so I usually wear androgynous women's clothes - like tee shirts, shirts and so on, and I've got some nice jackets. All that would probably look better if I was thin and boyish looking, say like Annie Lennox, but I'm not and I don't (!), and I would probably get on even better if I liked the attention that dressing differently attracts, which I don't, so I usually opt for casual clothes unless I'm feeling daring! However since my colour analysis I now buy anything new in my colours, which is really great!! Keep up the good work." Susan, UK (Dec 06)

"Thank you for your lovely supportive message. Yes I am going for it - and having great fun! The main difficulty (apart from not having the looks or the body shape of Annie Lennox, but we'll gloss over that) is that the style of shirts that I like, that are made for women, only come in a very limited range of colours. However I have been able to get a banana coloured one, and a moss green striped one, and a white - although I can put an autumnal coloured tie with it. I've still got some black or grey clothes (!) that I bought before I had your colour advice, so I'm still wearing those but trying to put something in 'my colours' with them.

Your colour advice has been an eye opener to me and I do realise how much better I look (relatively speaking!) when I am wearing the right colours! It sounds simple now! Anyway, I said a while ago I'd send some photos, so I've attached some to this message. If you need psychological help after viewing these I know a good counsellor... I sent the pics because I am so pleased to be wearing the right colours, where possible, now I know what colours to

"Just to say thank you once more for all your great advice. You must be very busy and I really appreciate you taking the time and trouble to give me this advice. Sometimes you see people, don't you, who have just got it all together with this style and colour thing? (Well it's obviously an understatement saying that to you!) Since I did this colour analysis with you I have become much more aware of it - in other people, as well as hopefully in myself. Then I saw one of those makeover programmes 'Would like to Meet' where a man was being taken round the clothes shops and shown what to buy to make him look better. He had nice blue eyes and the 'clothes person' got him to put on a mid-blue shirt to complement his eyes. So I thought, well I've got blue eyes so I'll just wear blue, and that was the nearest I got until I came across you!

It was then that something significant happened. A friend and I were meeting up for lunch, so I thought I would wear one of the ties that he had sent me. So I put on my banana-coloured shirt and his blue tartan tie and my rust jacket and looked at myself in the mirror and with no warning just started to cry. I couldn't believe what an emotional experience it was seeing myself in the mirror dressed like that. I just felt really 'me'. "I had an online colour analysis in the Autumn of last year and had also just purchased your e-books. I just wanted to say how brilliant they all are and how much easier it makes it to go shopping - I never leave the house without my Autumn fabric fan just in case! "First of all I want to say thank you for transforming my clothes mindset! Having completed your online colour analysis I have undertaken a steady, but definite overhaul of my wardrobe. Over six months ago I started to review my image very seriously, not only through trying to lose weight, but also in order to choose clothes that are more suitable to me.

After you identified that I was an ‘Autumn’ I have been out shopping with my colour swatch book buying a new brown suit, a brown and rust blouse and a jade green top - to name but a few. Whilst in Meadow Hall shopping for my new suit I even managed to tell the shop assistant how the colour analysis has transformed my ideas and shopping habits. She was immediately struck by the colour swatch and the opportunity for a colour analysis when I was matching fabrics so I passed on your website details. I still haven’t totalled up my recent clothes spend for fear of fainting!!!

It has been wonderful seeing how more suitable colours have transformed the way I feel about how I look. I have even started my ‘wardrobe weed out - part one’ from your newsletter! I used to work in a clothes factory shop when I was a student and I would simply buy what I liked the looks of and it usually fit my budget at the time. I’m completely different now. I’ve become very choosy and specific about what I NEED, not want.

But now I have a new image challenge and it is an exciting one for me. I recently got engaged and I’m starting the process of choosing a wedding dress and colour themes for the wedding. I already know that pure white is a colour I should avoid and that I should probably consider the oyster and warm beige that you have identified in the Autumn colour swatch. We are due to marry on midsummer’s day next year and I love the idea of soft golds and neutrals, but before I go any further identifying colour combinations with flowers and decorations, etc. I thought it best to ask the expert! When I looked at the Improvability website and saw the detail and content of your anaysis portfolio it made me realise just how inaqequate and incomplete my previous consult was! I have been pounding the streets in Stafford and looking everywhere for colours, at colours, looking at the way people use colour and the way they wear colour. (Am I becoming obsessed?!) Thanks also for the style tips. I usually do have my hair showing below my ears but the hair stylist got a bit carried away last time! Also, a while ago, I fancied the idea of wearing earrings and I had my ears pierced but my ears didn't like it so I had to give earrings up. And I only wear make up once a flood. Clothes wise, like so many people, I had gone down the black route and was beginning to feel like an undertaker! I'm afraid I absolutely hate shopping for clothes - for me most things are either too 'girly' or too small and I give up.
