My suggestions

My own suggestions

Kingfisher (viscose), Sea green (stretch cotton) and Teal (100% cotton) will suit just about everyone.

Azure (stretch cotton) and Ice lavender (viscose) will look great on Summers, Springs and Winters. NB. Ice colours are NOT pastels; they are essentially white with just a hint of colour added.

Deep Winters and Deep Autumns will love Indigo (stretch cotton), Sea green (stretch cotton), Dark chocolate (viscose), Lobelia (viscose) and Black (viscose).

Soft-muted Autumns will look wonderful in Light olive (viscose), Cocoa (stretch cotton) and Rosewood (viscose) - try putting two of them together too.

Summers who like the stretch viscose fabric could wear Candy pink with either Rosewood or Ice Lavender for a really elegant look. If you prefer the soft cotton fabric, try mixing Pink ice and Rose together, or Duck egg with Breton blue.

Lightest neutrals:

• Spring and Autumn: Soft white (stretch cotton) and Vanilla (viscose)
• Summer and Winter: Soft white (stretch cotton) and White (viscose)

Darkest neutrals:

• Spring and Autumn: Dark chocolate (viscose)
• Summer and Winter: Black (viscose)

Pre-conceptions are often mis-conceptions - my own story

Just so you know - I hate cotton. I have hated cotton with a vengeance for as long as I can remember. I always avoid it when shopping because it feels cheap, hard and like cardboard against my skin. As a curvy Dramatic Winter, I love the feeling of soft, flowing, shiny fabrics so I absolutely adored the Kettlewell viscose tops from the beginning and was not too enthusiastic when they introduced a cotton range. Even though I realised that lots of my clients and consultants would love them, I told Melissa at Kettlewell that I would not even be trying the new cotton tops on.

But then, one of my Autumn consultants came to see me dressed in a Soft white cotton V-neck with 3/4 sleeves and it looked stunning. I asked where she'd bought it from and she looked at me as though I had fallen out of a tree. "It's a Kettlewell top, of course!" she told me, so I immediately went to open up one of the cotton samples that were still in a box in the office and tried it on.

Miserable sinner that I am, I now confess that the Kettlewell cotton is utterly gorgeous and feels beautiful against my skin. In fact, as I am writing this, I am wearing an adjustable cotton wrap in Sea green over a viscose camisole in Fuchsia. And I shall be ordering more!

Some suggestions for mixing it up

Colour is to be enjoyed, and once you know the colours that suit your skin tone, you can have lots of fun mixing and matching.

The photo on the right is great if you don't want to wear too much colour. Wearing two items together in the same colour looks so sophisticated, and Summers in particular like to look sophisticated. This wouldn't work so well for most Winters, who need the contrast that two completely different colours worn together produce - like red and white.
