THE OVERALL MOOD
World designs are also in style with influences from different cultures, such as African, Caribbean and Southern Asian. Fabrics feature exotic prints and embellishments with an authentic tribal feel. In complete contrast to Riviera sophistication, casual wear sees the eclectic 'eco traveller' look with garments being deliberately mismatched and purposefully stressed for a used and worn style. TAILORING An interest in tailoring continues reflecting the shift towards clean cut sophistication. The 2SB (two-button single-breasted) is the star of the season, taking over from the three-but-toned and double-breasted styles, with the blazer jacket continuing as the tailored item of the season in every variation including pastels such as lilac, baby blue, apple and pink, and worn with contrasting trousers. Also, the clean white suit/jacket appears as a key look in many designer collections, with jackets being slimmer and narrower across the shoulders. Alongside this, softly-pleated, slouchy trousers, as well as tailored shorts and the waistcoat are making an appearance. Shirts and Ties For shirts, bold colours and colour combinations come through, and ties also get the benefit of the bright, bold colours, looking highly effective against plain shirts. Pattern-wise, brightly-coloured stripes and checks in either complementary or contrasting shades makes an appearance while white complements strong pastel and satin stripe looks.
Casual Shirts The popularity of casual shirts continues in a variety of adorned styles, such as the printed shirt with stylised floral or paisley patterns, and shirts with embroidered or patchwork effects along with pastel-coloured striped designs. A fusion of the formal and the casual will occur with casual wear shirts containing evening wear detail, such as pin-tucking and stand up collars. In T-shirts, the Polo shirt dominates in every variation with prints continuing with graphic camouflage, vintage Americana and retro rock 'n' roll influences. Knitwear As in womenswear, inspiration is taken from classic sportswear with items such as the tennis-inspired polo-collar making an appearance, most likely beneath the V-neck of a cricket jumper or the sleeveless V-neck of a golf-inspired top. Fine and wide stripes will make an appearance, perhaps on the slim fit cardigans which will also be in style. There will also be appearances from fine gauge cable sweaters as well as argyles. Casual jackets In line with the return to more classic, sophisticated looks, next season's jackets will be clearly influenced by uniform styles such as the military or more functional designs. These trends will include such items as classic Harrington, cotton bombers, denim blazers and cotton trench coats. Courtesy Fashion Info Trends Kim Bolsover
