THE
OVERALL MOOD
Summer 2007 sees womenswear distancing itself from the clutter of decoration
and moving towards a more honest and simple approach to dressing.
Clean classics are revisited showing an elegant side, as well as one
which is more graphic and sporty. Simplicity is the key word.
In moving away from the complex there is a movement to graphically define
the body with contrast banding or blocking or using bold large-scale
prints, often with a 1960's feel.
Silhouettes are referencing the body again with the cinched-in waist
being the most extreme expression. The need for relaxed easy dressing,
however, may mean translating the look with soft belting or easier empire
lines in dresses and tops.
There
is also a gentler more poetic theme emerging especially evident in soft
volume tops, romantic sleeves and the use of antique or handcrafted trims
and finishes.
Whichever look is chosen, the key consideration is simplicity. Make
a single statement and it will be a strong one.

and nut brown fade into neutrals.

Spring 2007 Pantone Fashion Color Report
New York fashion designers are flourishing in a season of new beginnings,
using surprising neutrals with innovative splashes of corals, yellows
and purples to create a spring in bloom.
Tarragon is the freshly cut stem to the blossoming shades of sweet Strawberry
Ice, warm Golden Apricot and violet-infused Hollyhock. Cafe Creme is
the rich, creamy contrast to the serenity of calming Sky Blue or the
deliciousness of refreshing Grapemist. The yellow glow of gleaming Green
Sheen and the blushing beauty of diaphanous Silver Peony reflect the
infusion of life brought by spring.
